Hilary Herbert Miller, Jr.

SAVANNAH – Herbie passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 13, 2010, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Shirley Hallman Miller, his daughter, Susan M. Holliday and family, his son, Mark A. Miller and family, his brother, Jack Miller and family, his sister, Belle King and family, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He attended Savannah High School and played on the school's only state championship football team, in 1942, and played on numerous baseball, softball, and basketball teams in the city. He was still a member of the Oldtimers Softball League at the time of his death.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater.
Herbie retired from Savannah Electric and Power Company after forty years of loyal service. He was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, the Exchange Club, and the American Legion.
Herbie was known for his ready smile and his quick wit. He loved his family above all things and his large family consists of many people that considered him a surrogate father.
The visitation will be at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, on Monday, June 14, 2010, from 5-7 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at White Bluff United Methodist Church.
